LDS gay conference in Salt Lake

Associated Press release for today’s paper:

A conference for gay Mormons is challenging church leaders who frowned on homosexuality.  The “Circling the Wagons” conference is being held this weekend in Salt Lake City.  The Salt Lake Tribune reports that conference organizers say gay Mormons have been a great source of misunderstanding, judgment and hurt within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Former United Methodist minister Jimmy Creech says passages in the Bible used to condemn homosexuality has been distorted and that discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people is morally wrong.

So do you agree with Jimmy?

I don’t.

I would imagine that Jimmy doesn’t care too much for the KJV.

P.S. – I wonder why Jimmy doesn’t throw in discrimination against polygamous people.

  1. Jimmy Creech is the authority being cited? And we wonder why western Christianity is sick and dying…I’d say that apostate Creech would hate (or hates) the original Greek, let alone the KJV, NKJV, NASB, etc…This also smacks of modern chauvinism, this whole idea of “they were misinterpreting this scripture for centuries this way, and the church has always spoken against it, but we enlightened ones know better…”

I would love to hear John Chrysostom speak on this one if he were still alive, given his comments on Romans 1.
